Salutation
Paul greets the church. 1 Corinthians 1:1
Paul addresses —
His calling (his authority)
His Apostleship of Jesus Christ through the will of God
And Sosthenes our brother
Paul addresses and identifies the church. 1 Corinthians 1:2
Which is at Corinth
Whom are saved
Whom are called
With all Christians every where who call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their’s and our’s:
Paul addresses not only the local church in Corinth, but also connecting them to all Christians everywhere who: call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their's and our's:
The word to focus on is “with”.
Then from v.4-9, Paul is addressing the church which is indicative of v.5 and 7
Paul bestows grace and peace unto the believers. 1 Corinthians 1:3
from God our Father, and
from the Lord Jesus Christ
The Father is first and then Jesus.
The divine authority of which ascends and descends in the same way each time.
Paul thanks the believers. 1 Corinthians 1:4
Paul uses the word my to signify the significant relationship he has with God the Father—I thank my God on your behalf.
This is the same relationship in which all Christians can experience.
The same grace spoken of in v.3 now becomes the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ.
This same Jesus spoken of in John 1
Paul explains the — 1 Corinthians 1:5
Spiritual relationship
Spiritual wealth in which we can partake in—That in every thing ye are enriched by him
How? Is by all utterance, and in all knowledge
Paul gives affirmation of their (the Corinth church) testimony 1 Corinthians 1:6
Their faith was accounted for by other believers in the faith
Remember, the ( : ) indicates a new thing to be introduced or emphasized in Scripture
Paul reminds them of their provisions and the greatest provision of all is—The Second Advent of Jesus Christ—waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: Corinthians 1:7
Yet another emphasis, ( : )
Paul reminds them of the confirmation they have received of both believers and Christ their Lord—unto the end. Corinthians 1:8
That through the confirmation of their testimony in Jesus, they will be blameles sin the day of His coming.
Paul ends here with the faithfulness of God the Father. Corinthians 1:9
And a reminder of their calling unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
Which echoes the unity of God in which all believers can be partakers of through the Spirit of God.
