Salutation
Paul greets the church. Galatians 1:1
Paul addresses —
His calling (his authority)
His Apostleship not by the will of men — but by Jesus Christ
And God the Father who raised Jesus from the dead.
Paul includes all the brethren who are with him. Galatians 1:2
Names unknown but could be the likes of Titus (Gal 2:1)
And addresses the churches of Galatia (plural)
Grace by to you and peace from God the Father. Galatians 1:3
Paul writes grace be to you and peace from God the Father
Paul reminds them of the relationship they share together—
Who gave himself for our sins — v.4
Paul finishes the salutation with—To whom be glory for every and ever. Amen
Paul rebukes the brethren at Galatia. Galatians 1:6-10
Paul's warnings:
I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him — v.6
but there be some that trouble you — v.7
let him be accursed. — v.8
let him be accursed. — v.9 (twice)
For do I now persuade me, or God? — v.10
Paul's authority on the Scripture — gospel (v.11-17)
Divine calling:
But I certify you, brethren... not after man — v.11
For I neither received it of man — v.12
I persecuted the church of God (Paul prev.) — v.13
Profited in the Jews religion — v.14
Called me by his grace — v.15
To reveal his Son in me — v.16
Neither went I up — v.17
Paul's independence (v.18-24)
Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter — v.18
Afterwards Paul heads to the regions of Syria and Cilicia. — v.21
Paul is unknown here by face. — v.22
Paul presents his testimony to the brethren and they glorify God in him. — v.24

Paul's second visit to Jerusalem
Paul describes his second visit to Jerusalem — "Then fourteen (14) years I went up again to Jerusalem". Galatians 2:1
He mentions Barnabas and Titus
He went up by revelation (of the Spirit?), and presented the Gospel in which he preached unto the Gentiles — Galatians 2:2
Titus did not feel compelled to be circumcised — Galatians 2:3
Not required for the Gospel
He mentions false brethren who came in privily — Galatians 2:4
In verses 6–8, Paul speaks of his calling and the authority given to him to preach the Gospel directly to the Gentiles (i.e., the heathen). — Galatians 2:6-8
James, Cephas, and John—the recognized leaders in Jerusalem—acknowledged Paul’s calling and the gospel entrusted to him for the uncircumcised, and they extended the right hand of fellowship to Paul and Barnabas. — Galatians 2:9
There is a mutual agreement to remember the poor.
Paul confronts Peter at Antioch — Galatians 2:11
Peter ate with the Gentiles but later separated himself — Galatians 2:12
For fear of the circumcision.
Peter influenced the others to follow him — Galatians 2:13
Paul addresses Peter in front of them all — Galatians 2:14
Paul is dealing Peter's hypocrisy.
Paul teaches that both Jews and Gentiles are justified by faith in Jesus Christ — Galatians 2:15–16
He warns against returning to the Law and failing to live in the liberty of Christ — Galatians 2:17–18
Key verse: “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me.” — Galatians 2:19
He concludes: “I do not frustrate the grace of God.” — Galatians 2:21
