Salvation is the FREE Gift of God (Eternal Life) that God has granted to all sinners who receive the Son of God, Jesus Christ who is the Second Person in the Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).
Jesus who is God came down to die for His Creation but it is the Father who sends the Son for this great sacrifice. To be sacrificial (The Atoning Sacrifice).
John 3:16 - For God (the Father/God) so loved the world (everyone), that he gave his only begotten Son (Jesus/God), that whosoever believeth in him (Jesus/God) should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:17 - For God (the Father/God) sent not his Son (Jesus/God) into the world to condemn the world (everyone); but that the world (everyone) through him (Jesus/God) might be saved.
Salvation is a side-effect that occurred while God was setting up His kingdom on earth. God's intention (real intention) is to establish His kingdom on earth and rule for all eternity, from glory to glory.
Romans 5:12 - Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Romans 5:15 - But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
The problem = sin
The solution = receive the Son, Jesus Christ.
John 1:12 - But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
How to accept Jesus into your heart?
Accept you are a sinner
Accept Jesus died on the cross for you (he died/buried and rose for our sakes)
Upon accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, He promises to forgive you of all your sins (past/present/future)
